Your French Toast isn’t Like Ours

Portage Bay, South Lake Union

I mean seriously, does your french toast back home or near you look like this? It’s AMAZING! Seattle isn’t know for having a big brunch culture (like NY, Chitown, DC, etc) but Portage Bay is our little gem for a nice brunch.

Some of my favorites on the menu:

  • Oatmeal Cobbler French Toast - mega yummmmm… For you or the table.

  • The Migas… yummmmmm… 3 eggs, cumin, tillamook cheddar, fresh basil, cilantro lime crema, house-made salsa, all wrapped in a massive flour tortilla.

  • Shakshuka - 2 organic eggs, baked in a skillet with spicy tomato, mushrooms, garlic sauce, topped with feta & organic arugula…. Also a big chunk of bread on the side.

  • For a traditional breakfast, I always go for Phil’s Breakfast. 3 eggs any way, local bacon or sausage (chicken or maple pork are options) with side of potatoes and toast (can sub a side salad).

The menu is amazing and their slogan is “Eat Like you Give a Damn”! All of their ingredients are locally sourced, organic, sustainable and the food is served to delight, let me tell ya. They have several locations but I found the one most consistent is South Lake Union.

Their newest location in West Seattle still has a few kinks to work out but is closer to the airport.

You’ll want to book a reservation a few days in advance, these folks stay busy. You can do same day but expect the morning slots to be gone.

Take a look at the menu here!
